I have just come back from a 2 week trip to Vietnam exploring this colourful and vibrant country from North to South. The country offers a mix of mega cities, gorgeous landscapes, friendly people and amazing food, and of course amazing photography opportunities.

The trip started in Hanoi which must have the heaviest traffic in the world, followed by an overnight trip to Halong Bay, known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. This was followed by a train trip south to Ninh Binh exploring rural Vietnam followed by an overnight train trip to Hue, the former capital of Vietnam. After two days exploring the imperial city and its surroundings, it was time to catch the train to Hoi An, often people’s favourite destination in Vietnam. Hoi An has a melting-pot history which is reflected in its
architecture, a mix of eras and styles from wooden Chinese shophouses
and temples to colorful French colonial buildings, ornate Vietnamese
tube houses and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge with its pagoda. It is a great place to take photos, as proven by French photographer Réhahn, who has a gallery there. The last stop was Ho Chi Minh City (former Saigon) that may have lost its charme a little bit. A day trip to Mekong Delta however showcased Vietnam’s beauty yet again.
